British pop rockers Pulp haven’t released any new music in over two decades; but on June 6 the band will release their first album, “More”, in 24 years. Even the band was surprised about the upcoming release! “It took us by surprise,” admits frontman Jarvis Cocker.
The band recorded the album in just three weeks. The eleven songs on the album are both old and new songs that span the bands career. Unlike previous albums songwriter Cocker wrote the songs before the band entered the studio; as opposed to creating the songs as they record. Cocker noted if you, “write the words in advance. … It’s taken me until the age of 61 to realize it: If you write the words before you go into the studio, it makes it a much more pleasant experience.”
Cocker noted, “it made me realize that you don’t have endless amounts of time. You’ve still got an opportunity to create things, if you want to. Are you going to give it a go?”
The Sheffield natives formed in 1978 but it would be some 20 years before they would find fame.
