It seems like I have always been reading, but I don’t remember having a single book that was my favourite.
But there were a couple of book series that I enjoyed reading in third and fourth grade. There was a series featuring a family with six children called “The Hollister Family” and they would solve mysteries – similar to the cartoon “Scooby Doo”…but not as hokey.
“The Boxcar Children” was a series about four orphaned children who lived in a train boxcar – the older children looked after the younger children. They would embark on a series of adventures.
Both series were pretty light weight stuff literally speaking, but they were entertaining for a child.
It has been many years since I have read anything with either of those families; but in the years since, I have discovered a lot more including books that feature a great deal of history, science, and art surrounding a fictional character.
The only trouble is…there was no one interested in hearing about the books I had read. There still isn’t anyone who cares about the books I read, but I enjoy them…and in the end that’s all that matters!
