It was a lucky Friday the 13th for rock fans, especially for those who are fans of the 70s and 80s rock music when Bostyx came to the Bear’s Den Showroom in the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino for two shows.
For one member of the band it was a bit of a homecoming; drummer Glenn Jost is from the Buffalo area – he grew up in Williamsville.
Fronted by former Boston member David Victor, Bostyx performs the music of Boston and Styx.
After opening the show with a rocking instrumental rendition of the National Anthem, the band mixed up the set list with tunes from the band that give Bostyx their name – Boston and Styx.
Up first was the Boston hit song “Rock and Roll Band”. The band also played the Boston songs “Smokin”, “More Than a Feeling”, “Don’t Look Back”, and “Peace of Mind”.
The set list also featured the Styx hits “Grand Illusion”, “Foolin’ Yourself”, “Lady”, Babe”, “Best of Times”, “Too Much Time on My Hands”, “Rockin’ the Paradise”, and “Come Sail Away” whee fans were invited to sing and dance along.
Returning to the stage after some rousing cheers the band performed the Boston hit “Foreplay/Longtime”.
All five band members – Glenn Jost, Roby Duros, Manny Aguirrie, Victor Bender, and David Victor – shared the vocal duties and with their constant moving about the stage to get closer to the fans or rock with each other, it was clear that the group was having a good time performing as they played before a packed house of avid rock and roll fans.
