The performances are over and the votes have been counted, for the three finalists on “American Idol” the wait is almost over as the all gather one last time to learn who will become the “next American Idol”.

Papa Richie kicks the night of music off with a performance of “All Night Long”. The top 10 join him on stage.

Host Ryan Seacrest reveals that over the years over 600 million Idol fans have watched the finale.

Caleb does some impressions of Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie…and shocks Lionel.

Nick Jonas returns to Idol for a performance of his new single “Anywhere”. Jurnee joins Jonas for a performance of “Jealous”.

Ryan spoke with the parents of the three finalists.

Luke Bryan performs his new single “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset”. Gabby Barrett joins Luke on stage for a performance of “Most People are Good”.

Gary Clark Jr takes the stage with Dennis Lorenzo and Cade Foehner for some rock and roll with “Bright Lights”.

Maddie Poppe sang Kermit the Frog’s song “Rainbow Connection” for her audition. Tonight she is joined the Prince of Frogs himself for a reprisal of the song.

Noah Davis returns to Idol. During his audition, Noah said that if he won the show, he would buy an alpaca. Ryan took Noah backstage to present him with an alpaca.

Caleb Lee Hutchinson joins Darius Rucker for a performance of “Wagon Wheel” – a song made popular by Rucker but written by the Old Crow Medicine Show. Caleb plays the banjo.

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel comes out with a large barrel he says is a time capsule from the old Idol show – including a Simon Cowell t-shirt, locks from Ryan Seacrest, Steven Tyler’s scarves, the fingertips off of Adam Lambert’s gloves, Randy Jackson’s dog…and Sanjaya himself.

Bebe Rexha joins the three finalists for a performance of “Meant to Be”.

In the first results of the night, one of the finalists learns that they have fallen short of the title. Caleb is moving on to the top two…and Maddie Poppe is joining him. Gabby Barrett has been eliminated.

Layla Spring and her little sister Dixie return to the Idol stage for a performance of “Blue”. Leann Rimes surprises the girls on stage.

Katy and Catie join forces on stage for a performance of “Part of Me”.

Ilana Adams and Michael J Woodward perform “What the World Needs Now”.

Caleb reveals that Maddie is his girlfriend. The duo performed a mashup of “Over the Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World”.

Ryan announces that the top two are getting a trip to Hawaii.

Patti LaBelle and Ada Vox pair up for a performance of “Lady Marmalade”.

And the time has finally arrived to crown the new winner. Over 200,000 singers auditioned and only 10 made it to the show, but only one will be crowned the winner.
