John Travolta has a new award to add to his collection of Golden Globe, Emmy, and Critics Choice awards.
In a surprise event, Travolta – who is at the Cannes Film Festival for his film “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” which he wrote, directed, and produced.
Travolta was about to air the screening of his film when Cannes Film Festival artistic director Thierry Frémaux walked out on the stage and presented an honourary Palme d’Or Award.
Clutching his chest, Travolta told Fremaux, “you said this would be a special night, but I didn’t know it would mean this.”
He added, “this is beyond the Oscar!”
Travolta used his children’s novel in creating the film “Propeller One-Way Night Coach”.
Later in the Festival Barbra Streisand will receive a Palme d’Or of her own.
Previously actor Tom Cruise and “Lord of the Rings” filmmaker Peter Jackson have received an honourary Palme d’Or award.
