It all depends on what it is I am trying learn…
Firstly, whatever I am trying to learn needs to interest me in some way or spark my curiosity.
Sometimes the books I read have a lot of history or science in them and it takes me twice as long to read the book because I am highlighting stuff that interests me.
When it comes to music; staying motivated is easy because I want to learn the song. Sometimes I get caught up on a part of the music and it takes a while to figure it all out. But once it “clicks” and I figure it out, learning the piece is not too difficult.
The problem is that once I learn it, sometimes I need to check the first couple of notes to remember how it goes…and don’t think just play!
Sometimes learning things isn’t a straight forward affair but requires different formats like hands on or a step by step process. But whatever the method the only way to stay motivated in learning anything is that it first must be INTERESTING!
