The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series kicks off a doubleheader weekend at Kansas Speedway; but hopefully the start of the weekend will not foretell the “rest of the story”.

Practice and qualifying has been cancelled duo to some significant rain storms in the area.

William Byron and Cole Custer are the only Cup Series driver joining the 37 car field this week with Byron driving the number 88 car for JR Motorsports.

The first three starting spots belong to JRM cars with Carson Kvapil sitting on the pole and William Byron alongside on the front row.  Points leader Justin Allgaier will start third.

Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 110 laps for a total of 200 laps around the 1.5 mile track.

Justin Allgaier, Sheldon Creed, Carson Kvapil, and Brent Crews are the Dash-4-Cash drivers this week.

NASCAR has called for a competition caution around lap 20 after the drivers had no practice or qualifying on Friday.

The race begins in the daylight but will finish under the lights.

After inspection issues, Sheldon Creed will have to start the race from the back of the field.

Cole Custer made an unscheduled trip down pit road for possible power steering issues.

Carson Kvapil brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with William Byron alongside on a cool Saturday night.  Kvapil gets out in front with the drivers quickly getting three and four wide across the track.

Corey Day jumps out in front to lead lap one.

The caution flag comes out when Josh Bilcki gets loose. 

Carson Kvapil ends up on his roof after tumbling down the track.  NASCAR has red flagged the race while they right Kvapil’s car and clean the track.

Kvapil got loose and a bump from Parker Retzlaff sent Kvapil airborne.  Kvapil exits the car and walks away from the car.

The top five are Corey Day, Justin Allgaier, William Byron, Taylor Gray, and Brandon Jones.

Carson Kvapil is out of the infield care center and says that he is fine.  He called it one heck of a ride; adding that he hated it for the crew and sponsors.

Parker Retzlaff is also out of the race.  He noted that he caused a wreck that wasn’t necessary; adding that he is glad Carson (Kvapil) is okay.  He said he feels bad for the 99 crew.

Moving again after a 12 minute red flag, Corey Day brings the field down for the green flag restart with Justin Allgaier alongside on lap five.  Day jumps out in front for the lead.

Corey Day and Justin Allgaier have pulled away from the field.  Drivers are getting three wide across the track.

Lap nine, Corey Day leads the race with Justin Allgaier in second; Taylor Gray, Ryan Sieg, and Jesse Love round out the top five.

Lap eleven, Sheldon Creed has moved up 16 spots since the race start after having to start the race from the back of the field.

Lap 13, Brandon Jones passes Ryan Sieg for fourth.

Corey Day has a near one second lead on Justin Allgaier; Taylor Gray, Brandon Jones, and Ryan Sieg round out the top five.  Sheldon Creed has entered the top 20 in 17th.

Lap 16, Brandon Jones passes teammate Taylor Gray for third.

Jesse Love passes Ryan Sieg for fifth.

Lap 19, Justin Allgaier has closed the gap on leader Corey Day and begins to challenge for the lead.

NASCAR displays the yellow flag for the competition caution on lap 21.  The drivers will come down pit road for service.  It will give the crew chiefs a chance to evaluate tire wear and make adjustments to the cars.

Now 18, this is the first time that Brent Crews has been on a 1.5 mile track.

Taking only two tires, Brandon Jones wins the race off of pit road.

The 32 car driven by Rajah Caruth and the 45 car driven by Lavar Scott were charged with crew members coming over the wall too soon and will have to restart the race from the back of the longest line.

Lap 31, Justin Allgaier and Corey Day battle for third; Brandon Jones has a near half second lead on Taylor Gray.

Brent Crews moves up to make it a three way battle between Corey Day, Justin Allgaier, and Crews.

The third caution flag of the race comes out on lap 38 when Austin Hill spins out and collects William Sawalich.  Hill’s car is smoking heavily as he drives down the track.  Jesse Love and Austin Hill were in a battle for position in close quarters when Hill got loose.

Several of the drivers come down pit road for service.  Leaders stay out.

Austin Hill is out of the race.

William Byron comes up on the outside to take the lead with Brandon Jones taking second from the inside land.

Lap 56, Brandon Jones is coming up fast to battle William Byron for the lead.

Jesse Love passes Taylor Gray for third.

Luke Baldwin is out of the race with a suspension issue.

The top five are Brandon Jones, William Byron, Anthony Alfredo, Jesse Love, and Taylor Gray.

Lap 62, Brandon Jones has a lead of over a second on William Byron; Jesse Love, Taylor Gray, and Justin Allgaier round out the top five.

The caution flag comes out on lap 64 for Anthony Alfredo who gets into the wall with a flat tire on the front stretch.

Austin Green is on pit road with a smoking car.  Green has climbed from the car and is out of the race with a gear issue.

Blake Lothian is reporting a brake issue on his car.

Some of the drivers come down pit road for service.

Brandon Jones has won the race at Kansas three times and has quickly moved out in front for the lead as he looks to make it four.

Jeb Burton and Josh Williams were charged with a crew member coming over the wall too soon and will have to restart the race from the back of the longest line.

Nathan Byrd was charged with equipment interference and Josh Bilicki was charged with an uncontrolled tire.  Both drivers will restart the race from the back of the longest line.

The caution flag comes out on lap 100 for a big crash involving Corey Day, Sammy Smith, and Ryan Sieg.  Kyle Sieg squeaks through with no damage.

Sheldon Creed brings the field down for the green flag restart with Brandon Jones alongside with 95 laps remaining in the race.  Drivers quickly spread out across the track.  Sheldon Creed leads the race with teammates Brandon Jones and Taylor Gray in a battle for second.

With 87 laps to go, Brent Crews passes Jesse Love for fifth.

After being involved in the last caution flag, Corey Day has moved up 15 spots.

With 76 laps sto go, Brandon Jones has caught Justin Allgaier and is looking to take third. 

The Sieg brothers are in a battle for position.

There are 74 laps to go, Sheldon Creed has a near one second lead on Taylor Gray; Justin Allgaier, Brnadon Jones, and Brent Crews round out the top five.

At 55 degrees, this is the coldest O’Reilly Series race on record.
