The revolving carou!sel of characters taking on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in “Oh, Mary!” continues with John Cameron Mitchell joining the cast in February.

Mitchell will take over the role on February and remain until April 26.

Speaking on taking the role, Mitchell said,“Cole Escola and Sam Pinkleton are the wild horses that dragged me back to drag and I couldn’t be happier!”.  As the most mature Mary yet, my days are filled with working the StairMaster, mainlining Ozempic, and mastering my Brilliant Dialogue. ‘Line?!’ Thank you, Cole, may I do you proud mangling your classic!”

Tony Award winning director Sam Pinkleton added, “welcoming John into this cast feels both delicious and somehow inevitable.  So many of us in the ‘Oh, Mary!’ Universe, myself very much included, wouldn’t be where we are without John’s work, which reshaped what live performance could look and feel like for generations of tender weirdos. He’s a queer trailblazer, cultural icon, brilliant actor — and, most importantly for his new role, a giant idiot.”

John Cameron Mitchell follows previous “Mary” actors original Cole Escola, Betty Gilpen, Tituss Burgess, Jinkx Monsoon, Hannah Solow, and Jane Krakaowski.

“Oh, Mary!” tells the story of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks preceding the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.

“Oh, Mary!” was the first show of the 2024-25 season to recoup its investments.
