Daily writing prompt
What is something others do that sparks your admiration?

Artists…especially musicians.

As a journalist, artist, and tinkering musician; I understand fully well the time and effort that it takes to create and perform. Watching my dad practice, I understand what it takes to perform.

I can’t seem to find the time to sit down for a good practice and when I do, I’m all over the place. I really wish I could get it properly sorted out.

Simply finding the time to practice, hold down “a real job”, and take care of a family is like having three jobs…or more.

I admire the people who can “live the dream” and make their music a full time career.

I write about music because I know that I will never be good enough to get up on a stage and perform. I don’t get stage fright, I get stage terror! I have run an audio board but put a microphone in front of my face and I will clam up.

I’ve played in Celtic sessiuns and folk groups and really had a good time; but that is not the same.

I met someone once who said he was an artist. We even had some work hanging at the same gallery. But he showed a gross lack of respect for his fellow artists and even the curator at the gallery when he said that he liked the curator but he had some “garbage” at the gallery.

I had to respond and shot back that just because he didn’t like it, it didn’t mean it was garbage. I may not care for everything at the gallery, but I do respect and sometimes admire them for what they did.

I have been watching the show “Ink Masters”. I am not crazy about tattoos, nor will I ever consent to have one done; but I greatly admire some of the artwork that the people create.
