Last year Heritage Auctions sold a pair of ruby slippers from the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz”. The slippers sold for $28 million.
On December 9 and 10, Heritage will again hold an auction featuring items from the 1939 film including more slippers, the witch hat worn by Margaret Hamilton – the Wicked Witch of the West -, A handwritten letter written by “Oz” author Frank Baum on personal stationary and an organza blouse worn on screen by Garland, and a “The Wizard of Oz” book signed by Garland with an inscription.
Designed by Gilbert Adrian, the wool hat is 14 inches tall and 19.5 inches across. It also contains a 22 inch elastic chin strap.
The auction will be open for in person bids at the Heritage Auction house headquarters in Dallas; as well as, open for online bids.
