On October 1 the International Tennis Hall of Fame releases the nominees for the 2026 class of inductees.
Topping the list is Swiss born star Roger Federer who has won over 80% of his matches at 1,251; second only to Jimmy Connors. With 103 tournament wins he could fill a house with his trophies. During his career, Federer has an impressive list of accomplishments; 20 Grand Slams – eight at Wimbledon, six at the Australian Open, five at the U.S. Open, and one at the French Open – , 237 consecutive weeks at number one in the ATP rankings, helped lead Switzerland to the Davis Cup win in 2014, and earned the gold medal in doubles with Stand Wawrinka at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His 20 Grand Slam wins place his third behind Novak Djokovic who has 24 and Rafael Nadal with 22.
He played his final match at one of the most prestigious courts in the world – Wimbledon – in 2021, just shy of 40.
Other nominees for the 2026 class into the International Tennis Hall of Fame are:
two time singles champion Svetlana Kuznetsova
and the 2009 U.S. Open winner Juan Martin del Potro who earned a silver medal at Rio Olympic Games and led Argentina to the Davis Cup title.
