When it comes musical theater and Broadway, “Anything Goes”.
After setting attendance records in Los Angeles, the musical “44” is headed to Chicago – the home town of The Pope and the 44th President – for a limited run before heading to New York and Off Broadway.
The musical satire centered around the 44th U.S. President Barack Obama is set to open at the Studebaker Theater with previews Aug 23 with an official opening on August 28. The show is set to close on September 21 before heading to NYC. All tickets are priced at $44.
“44 The Musical” will play at The Daryl Roth Theatre for a limited eight week engagement beginning October 14 for previews and an official opening on November 6.
The musical comedy is described as “Barack Obama’s election changed history. ‘44’ is a satirical look at the rise and presidency of Barack Obama, as well as the eccentric political characters he met along the way. It is the story of Obama you won’t read about in history books…because history books are now banned in most states. But also, because ‘44’ is the story of Obama as Joe Biden kinda sorta remembers it…”
“44 The Musical” is written, composed, and directed by Eli Bouman – a former Obama campaign staff member; Anthony Brewster is the musical director and Miss James Alsop is the choreographer.
On August 4, President Obama will turn 64; in honour of that event, a limited number of tickets priced at $44 will be available for the first two weeks of the run; as well as, a limited number of seats for the remainder of the run.
