The revival of the musical “Gypsy” starring six time Tony Award winning artist Audra McDonald was originally set to close in October.

But after less than 300 total performances – 28 previews and 269 performances – the show is set to close on August 17.

No reason was given for the early closing date.

Following the limited run engagement starring Angela Lansbury in 1974, it will be the second shortest revival of “Gypsy” which debuted in 1959.

The play “John Proctor is the Villain” has earned its third…and final…extension.  The production is now set to close on September 7.

The play, a hit with the younger audiences, is based on the Arthur Miller play “The Crucible”.

“John Proctor is the Villain” debuted on March 20 with an April 14 opening and was originally set to close in August in a limited run.
