After the Craftsman Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway on Saturday night. In the Heart for Health Care 200, NASCAR officials disqualified second place driver Layne Riggs.
During. The post race inspection process, officials discovered that the truck bed cover was not properly sealed in violation of rule book Section 14.4.9.A.
The rule book states, “bed cover material must be strong enough to prevent the cover from deflecting or sagging and must be sealed around the perimeter of all bed panels while the vehicle is in competition.”
Riggs battled with race leader Carson Hocevar in the final laps of the race; but after the disqualification, Riggs is placed in last place and will earn only one point instead of the 30 plus points he would have earned for coming in second.
