It was a very successful week for Broadway last week with the top four shows in the Million Dollar Club topping $2 million and the top eight shows in the 90 percent club having an audience capacity of at least 100 percent.
The success of “Wicked” in the theaters has translated to Broadway. The show brought in nearly $3 million last week to top the list.
With an official opening set for December 19, “Gypsy” nearly hit the $2 million dollar mark while still heavily comping tickets. Once the show officially opens and comps end, the show could easily become a mainstay in the Million Dollar Club.
Over two-thirds of the 36 shows running on Broadway last week were a part of the Million Dollar Club – 22. And the box office receipts are up some 15 percent over last year.
