Throughout his career, Paul Tracy has been known as an aggressive driver.  Now in his third season as an SRX regular, Tracy has caused or been a part of his share of crashes.

While the SRX Racing season is only six weeks in length, the 12 teams use the exact same cars every week and if wrecked, the three crews spend a great deal of time…and money…repairing the cars for the next race.

At Motor Mile Speedway last week Paul Tracy ran IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden into the wall with just eleven laps remaining in the race; destroying both cars.  Unfortunately for Ken Schrader he could not get his car slowed up nor did he have anywhere to go and plowed into the melee, also destroying his car.

In his post crash interview Schrader said that he “was done with Paul Tracy”.

In an SRX Racing first, Paul Tracy has been suspended from the series.  The Series issued a statement saying, “Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) has announced an immediate suspension of driver Paul Tracy in relation to yesterday’s on-track incident at Pulaski County Motorsports Park.

SRX chief executive officer Don Hawk added, “we take issues regarding driver safety extremely seriously at SRX.  This is not a decision we take lightly. It is our responsibility to ensure that we foster a competitive, and most importantly, a safe racing environment. I have been in contact with Paul Tracy directly and we appreciate his cooperation on this matter.”

No specifics about the suspension were given as to duration or whether or not it is a temporary or permanent situation.

This week Johnny Benson will be joining the SRX Series when they travel to Berlin Speedway for week four of the season.
