It has been a rough week for Front Row Motorsports. After the race at Auto Club Speedway, the number 38 team was penalized for a tire issue that would see the crew chief and two crew members suspended for four races. The team has appealed the ruling.
During the Camping World Truck Series race on Friday night, the Front Row Motorsports number 38 truck driven by Zane Smith was involved in an on track altercation and had to fight his way back to the front of the pack.
Smith, Chandler Smith, and Kyle Busch were involved in a heated battle for the lead and the win of the race on the mile and a half track of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Chandler Smith won the race with Zane Smith taking second while several trucks were involved in a last lap crash.
During the post race inspection process, NASCAR officials found a violation according to the rule book in relation to the lug nuts. As a result if the infraction NASCAR has disqualified the number 38 truck and placed in the 36th position. The remainder of the field is moved up one position; putting Kyle Busch in second place behind his driver Chandler Smith.
Spencer Boyd, Jordan Anderson, John Hunter Nemechek and Grant Enfinger were all involved in the last lap crash of the race. While the trucks had some severe damage all of the drivers walked away from the wreck apparently in good shape. NASCAR requires that all drivers involved in on track incidents must get checked out at the infield care center.
During that check up, Spencer Boyd needed a little further attention and was sent to a local hospital. Boyd reported a dislocated shoulder but adds that he should be fine to drive in the next Camping World Truec Series race when the Series travels to Atlanta Motor Speedway in two weeks.
