After taking a week off, the Camping World Truck Series returns to kick off a triple header weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200.

One-fourth of the 37 truck field has never driven a truck at Las Vegas. But among the drivers who will be competing for one of the 36 starting spots is two time truck champion Todd Bodine who has not been in a truck for 3,000 races. And two time Cup Series champion and truck series owner Kyle Busch will be making one of his five truck series starts for this season.

Bodine can be seen as a part of the FOX Sports NASCAR broadcast crew. The 58 year old driver has not been behind the wheel of a truck series vehicle since 2013. Bodine ranked in the top 20 after practice in 13th place.

Camping World Truck Series champion Matt Crafton will be making Truck Series start number 500 when they drop the green flag for tonight’s race.

After a 20 minute practice session, the drivers take to the track for single lap, single truck qualifying. The first driver on the track is Bennan Poole who clocked a time of 31.767 seconds around the mile and a half track.

After having difficulties getting the truck started, Todd Bodine takes the track and ran a time of 30.884 seconds. Bodine plans to run a total of six races in the Truck Series this season. After those six races, Bodine will have a total of 800 starts across all three NASCAR racing series. Bodine said that the races this season are about saying goodbye to driving but more importantly, it’s about having fun!

Kyle Busch ran a time of 30.337 seconds; nearly half a second faster than the other laps run so far.


Driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, John Hunter Nemechek beat out the boss Kyle Busch with a time of 30.238 secnds to take P1.

At 19 years old, Carson Hocevar is the only driver for Niece Sports to have a start in the Camping World Truck Series.

After all 37 trucks have made a qualifying run, John Hunter Nemechek will sit on the pole and bring the field to the green flag with boss man Kyle Busch starting alongside. This is Nemechek’s third pole. Kyle Busch Motorsports team mate Chandler Smith makes it a 1 – 2 – 3 start for KBM.

Stages one and two of the race are 30 laps each with stage three lasting 74 laps for a total of 134 laps around the mile and a half track. Drivers can run 50 to 55 laps on a single load of fuel.

Blaine Perkins has a smoking truck with a tire rub after contact from Lawless Alan.

Leaders are beginning to lap slower traffic; there are 34 trucks on the lead lap.

The caution flag comes out on lap 21 due to Blaine Perkins when he spun out with a flat tire.

Drivers come down pit road for service; six laps short of the end of stage one.

Stewart Friesen was charged with an uncontrolled tire on pit road.

Todd Bodine was caught speeding on pit road.

After staying out on the track, Chandler Smith brings the field down for the green flag restart with just three laps remaining in stage one. The caution flag comes out after Colby Howard gets turned around. Chase Purday, Zane Smith, and Hailie Deegan also have damage to their trucks. Drivers were getting five wide at the time of the caution.

Ben Rhodes is listed as the leader with Chandler Smith in second.

The caution flag comes out on lap 72 for Jack Wood’s wrecked truck. Chase Purdy and Wood make contact sending Wood into the wall. Todd Bodine is the “lucky dog”.

The caution flag comes out on lap 90 for another wreck involving Todd Bodine. There are now 44 laps remaining in the race and the drivers are within their pit window.

The field comes down pit road for fuel and fresh tires.

Kyle Busch has led 28 laps so far – the most of the leaders.

Zane Smith was caught speeding on pit road. Since he will have to restart the race from the back of the field, Zane Smith comes down pit road for further repairs to his damaged truck after a wreck earlier in the race.

John Hunter Nemechek brings the field down for the green flag restart with 40 laps remaining in the race. Drivers get four wide on the restart.

Lap 96, drivers battle for position, getting three and four wide.

Carson Hocevar nearly saved his truck but spins out and brings out the caution flag on lap 98. He made a big run through the grass.

The caution flag comes out when Ty Majeski gets into the wall and then hits team mate Ben Rhodes.

With less than 30 laps remaining in the race, the drivers will become more aggressive as the laps count down; which could also bring more caution flag.

Carson Hocevar was posted for changing lanes illegally on the restart.

With 17 laps remaining in the race, Chandler Smith is the leader with Kyle Busch in second; Christian Eckes, John Hunter Nemechek, and Ryan Preece round out the top five.

The caution flag comes out on lap 119 after Kris Wright spins out.

Chandler Smith had some debris on his grille and used the pace truck to help get the debris off of the truck. Smith reported that his temps were at 300 prior to clearing the grille.

Christian Eckes has been posted for not maintaining proper speed. He is now in fifth place instead of second. Preece is reporting some sort of issue with this truck.

Kyle Busch edges out in front after a push from Chandler Smith but Zane Smith also gets a push and takes htel ead. Drivers are four and five wide across the track.

Derek Kraus gets loose but saves the truck and the track stays green.
