This season NASCAR has implemented some new rules for practice and qualifying where the drivers are divided into two groups with the top five drivers in each group making a run for the pole.

At Auto Club Speedway that practice time was only 15 minutes per group; something the drivers were very vocal about.

For the Cup Series race this weekend as Las Vegas Motor Speedway, NASCAR has modified the schedule when it comes to practice.

The entire field will have a 35 minute practice session for a little extra time on the track before the drivers will be divided into the two groups for qualifying.

When NASCAR announced penalties this week, the Front Row Motorsports number 38 car driven by Todd Gilliland was issued a four race suspension for a loose tire. The crew chief and two crew members would not be available for the next four races; however, Front Row Motorsports has filed an appeal of the penalty. As a result, the number 38 crew will be intact and on the track for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. Crew members will not have to serve the penalty until after the appeal is heard and a decision made.
