While there is no longer a ‘lug nut monster” to plague the crews in post race inspections, the new 18 inch single lug hub tires are continuing to cause some issues for the crews.

In this week’s penalty report following the races at Auto Club Speedway, another team faces a four race suspensiondue to a lost tire.

The Front Row Motorsports number 38 car driven by Todd Gilliland will lose its crew chief Seth Barbour, jack man Jourdan Osinskie, and front tire changer Tanner Andrews for the next four races after Gilliland’s car lost a wheel during the stage one caution during the Wise Power 400 on February 27.

The loss of the tire falls under the “loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle” in the NASCAR rule book.

This was the only penalty issued by NASCAR this week.
