The 2021 racing season has been a tough one for JR Motorsports driver Michael Annett. He has had to miss numerous Xfinity Series races due to a leg injury. He currently drives the number one car for Dale Earnhardt Jr’s JR Motorsports.
On October 6, Annett announced that he is retiring from full time racing once the 2021 racing season has ended.
Annett issued a statement saying, “I’m just so grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. Being able to drive race cars for a living is honestly a dream come true for me. It’s been a privilege to work with some great teams and alongside some of the most talented folks in the garage. None of this would have been possible without the support of my partners, and I am happy to call them lifelong friends. It’s those relationships and friendships that are the most rewarding.”
Annett last won an Xfinity Series race in 2019 when he won the race at Daytona to open the season.
Over the course of his racing career, Annett has made over 400 starts in the ARCA, Camping World Truck, Xfinity, and Cup Series.
