On May 9, Martin Truex Jr won his third race of the season when he became the first driver to win a race at Darlington Raceway after winning a stage or lead the most laps. Truex swept the stages on the Goodyear 400 and led the most laps in the race. Not only is Truex the first driver to win more than one race, he is also the first driver to win three races this season.

Despite Truex;s three race wins, Denny Hamlin holds on to his lead in the points standings with 529 points. Martin Truex Jr is the second place driver – 75 points behind the leader.

Ford holds on to the manufacturer’s points lead with 428 points; just one point ahead of Chevrolet; Toyota is in third six points back.
