The Camping World Truck Series kicks off a triple header weekend with some Friday night racing from Darlington Raceway. A throwback weekend, the drivers will be sporting some special paint schemes that honour racers..and cars…from the past.
This race also begins the Triple Truck Challenge where drivers can earn a $50,000 bonus for the race winner. If the same drivers wins future “Trip” races, the bonus money increases up to $500,000 for a “Trip” sweep. The remaining races in “The Trip” are at the Circuit of the Americas and Charlotte Motor Speedway later this month.
Truck Series points leader John Hunter Nemechek sits on the pole and will bring the field to green with Austin Hill alongside on the front row.

Among the oldest tracks on the NASCAR circuit, Darlington is often referred to as the “Track to tough to tame” and “The Lady in Black”.
Stages one and two of the race are 45 laps each with stage three lasting 57 laps for a total of 147 laps around the mile and a third track.
Beginning the race in daylight, the drivers will have to deal with a glaring sun until the sun begins to set.
John Hunter Nemechek brings the field down for the green flag start of the race from the outside lane and after going nose to nose with Austin Hill, Nemechek takes the lead.
Lap two, the top five are John Hunter Nemechek, Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, Zane Smith, and Todd Gilliland.
Akinori Ogata had to start the race from the back of the field after missing the rookie driver’s meeting.
With the drivers not having an opportunity to practice and check on tire wear and handling, NASCAR has called for a competition caution on lap 15.
Norm Benning gets loose and nearly takes out the leader.
Lap seven, Austin Hill takes the lead with Ben Rhodes in second.
Lap nine, the top five are Austin Hill, Ben Rhodes, John Hunter Nemechek, Zane Smith, and Todd Gilliland.
Lap 10, Austin Hill and Bren Rhodes battle for the lead with Hill holding on to the top spot.
Lap eleven, Austin Hill has pulled out to a lead of nearly half a second on Ben Rhodes; John Hunter Nemechek, Zane Smith, and Todd Gilliland rounds out the top five.
Lap 13, Austin Hill has increased his lead to over half a second on Ben Rhodes.
Cory Roper swipes the wall after getting a flat tire, the track stays green
The competition caution comes out at the end of lap 15. The teams received six sets of tires for the race.
Most of the field comes down pit road for adjustments and service. After taking only two tires, Gant Enfinger wins the race off of pit road.
Ryan Truex and Bayley Currey stayed out on the track; while Todd Gilliland and Grant Enfinger stopped on pit road and took only two tires.
Ryan Truex brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 22 from the outside lane with Truex jumping out in front for the lead as drivers back in the field get four wide.
Lap 23, Ben Rhodes takes the lead.
Lap 24, the top five are Ben Rhodes, Todd Gilliland, John Hunter Nemechek, Zane Smith, and Ryan Truex.
There are 36 trucks on the lead lap with Cory Roper the only driver out of the race.
Lap 26, Ben Rhodes has a lead of over half a second on John Hunter Nemechek.
The caution flag comes out on lap 27 after Codie Rohrbaugh and Kris Wright make contact and get into a wreck.

Stewart Friesen brings out the caution flag when he spins out. Todd Gilliland takes the lead on the restart.
Ben Rhodes reports to his crew that with the sun setting and the wind picking up, the track has cooled off and freed up.
Todd Gilliland brings the field down for the green flag restart with nine laps remaining in stage one. Gilliland holds on to the lead with Zane Smith taking second.

Codie Rohrbaugh and Krus Wright join Cory Roper as drivers out of the race.

Matt Crafton’s crew had trouble getting one of the tires off of the truck and caused him to have a slow pit stop.
After staying out on the track, Stewart Friesen brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two but it is Todd Gilliland who gets out front for the lead.

Eighteen year old Corey Heim is making his Truck Series debut at Darlington Raceway. He is driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the number 51 truck.
Lap 58, John Hunter Nemechek has pulled out to a lead of over a second on Todd Gilliland; Zane Smith, Sheldon Creed, and Stewart Friesen round out the top five.
There are 35 trucks on the lead lap.
Lap 63, John Hunter Nemechek now has a lead of over two seconds on Todd Gilliland.
Lap 69, John Hunter Nemechek has increased his lead to over two and a half seconds on Todd Gilliland; Zane Smith, Sheldon Creed, and Stewart Friesen round out the top five.
Lap 73, Zane Smith is reporting a vibration in his truck. The crew is prepared if Smith has to bring the truck down pit road.
With 17 laps remaining in stage two, Todd Gilliland has closed the gap on leader John Hunter Nemechek to under two seconds.

Chase Purdy brings out the caution flag after making contact with Akinori Ogata. Chase Purdy is the fourth driver out of the race.

Ben Rhodes makes a trip down pit road for service despite pit road being closed. He had a tire with only five pound of pressure in it. He will have to restart the race from the back of the field.
Coming into tonight’s race, John Hunter Nemechek has earned 109 stage points including points earned from his two wins.
With six laps remaining in the stage, John Hunter Nemechek brings a pack of drivers down pit road for fresh tires. John Hunter Nemechek wins the race off of pit road but will restartt the rout in fifth place after the first drivers stayed out on the track.
After staying out on the track, Tanner Gray brings the field down for the green flag restart and a two lap shootout for the end of stage two. Timmy Hill gets out in front for the lead but John Hunter Nemechek quickly retakes the lead. Drivers are getting three wide across the track.

Tanner Gray spins out and hits the wall bringing out the caution flag with 37 laps remaining in the race after contact from Ryan Truex. Timmy Hill and Akinori Ogata were caught up in the wreck.

NASCAR has red flagged the race in order to get everything cleaned up. By the end of the wreck the track was blocked.
After a red flag delay of over 10 minutes, NASCAR has displayed the yellow flag and the drivers begin moving once again. Crews that need to make repairs to the trucks can now work on those trucks.
Ben Rhodes is currently listed as the leader.
Chandler Smith was speeding past the safety crew and has had his truck parked by NASCAR and called to the hauler for a meeting.

Sheldon Creed wins the race under caution after Hailie Deegan wrecks. Creed breaks the Kyle Busch Motorsports winning streak and wins the Triple Truck Challenge bonus of $50,000. This is Creed’s first win of the season.
