This year, “The Voice” is celebrating 20 years of the singing competition reality show.  And while some of the previous winners have had some genre success; there has yet to be a massive breakout winner like its coaches including Kelly Clarkson who went from being a singing hopeful on such a show to being a household name.

But what has become of the previous winners as “The Voice” gets ready to take the finalists to the live shows and fan vote to crown a new winner later this month.

The most recent winners – Todd Tilghman in season 18 and Carter Rubin in season 19 – have not yet had the opportunity to make their mark in Voice history due to the pandemic and lock downs that have prevented them from performing live.

Season two winner Jermaine Paul has not seen much in the form of chart topping music since he won the show; in fact, he saw more success before “The Voice” than after.

Season six winner and coach Usher team member also has not found success on the Billboard chart but has followed in the heels of a number of reality singing contestants by performing on the Broadway stage in a holiday production called “Home for the Holidays” in 2017.

Original “The Voice” winner Javier Colon was the first, but has released only one album since winning the show and has not had any singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100.  However, he is one of thousands of entertainers that can be found on Tik Tok.

While season seven winner Craig Wayne Boyd topped the Billboard Country chart with his “The Voice” single, the singer has released only one album since his win, but did release an EP in 2019 titled “From the Inbetween”.

Maelyn Jarmon won season 16 in 2019 but has yet to release an album…or even a single; but her duet of “Unforgettable” with John Legend did top the Billboard Chart.   She is also among the numerous singers who can be found on Tik Tok.

Season 17 winner Jake Hoot joined his coach Kelly Clarkson for a duet “I Would’ve Loved You” earlier this year.  The song topped the Digital Country chart.  He has also released an EP “Love Out of Time” in January.  While he has found little solo success thus far, Hoot has performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage twice.

Season 13 winner Chloe Kohanski (chloe mk) released an EP titled “Fantasy” in 2019 with a single “Cosmic” in 2020.  She is one of the few Voice winners who has seen some success with her original music.  She has also appeared on and topped the Billboard Emerging Artist chart a number of times.

Season 12 winner Chris Blue has found some success on the R&B charts with songs he performed while on “The Voice” and is prolific with releasing music, but has yet to “breakout”.  He has released two albums in the past couple of years – “Fresh Start” and “One Light”.  And be on the lookout for his next single “Moon” coming out soon.

Season eleven winner Sundance Head has seen some success on the Billboard Singles chart with his “The Voice” song “Darlin’ Dong’s Go”.  He has also released three albums since his win in 2016.

Season five winner Tessanne Chin was a popular draw during “the Voice” tour after her win in 2013 but has not seen much success in the way of hit singles.  Her debut album did see some success on the Billboard chart peaking at number 41.

She also was asked to perform at the White House in 2014.  However, Tessanne Chin is the only singer to win “The Voice” that has made an appearance at the White House!

Child actor Alisan Porter took home the prize in season 10.  While she continues to release music and has had some minor chart success, she is still best known for her role in “Curly Sue”.

Sean 15 winner Chevel Shepherd hit number one the Country Digital chart with her Voice single.  She has since hit the top 10 of that chart twice; as well as, being named on Emerging Artist chart.  She released her holiday album “A Good Ol’ Country Christmas” in 2020.  She has also appeared in the film “Wildfire”.

The youngest Voice winner to date is Brynn Cartelli in season 14 was just 15 years old when she won the show.  Her original song “Last Night’s Mascara” has had over seven million streams on Spotify.  Her latest singe is “Long Way Home”.  Cartelli was nominated for a People’s Choice Award back in 2018.

Known as much for his long hair as his musical ability, season eight winner Sawyer Fredericks has set a number of records on iTunes with 14 songs in the top 200 singles chart.  While on he show, his song was a part of the top 10 singles every week and nearly broke the single day download record with “Please” which was also a hit on the Billboard Hot 100.  His two albums “Sawyer Fredericks” and “A Good Storm” also saw success on the Billboard Album 200 chart.

Season nine winner Jordan Smith made history on the Billboard Christian Single chart by holding down the number one and number two spots on the chart.  He has had a total of six top 10 songs on the Christian Music chart including three number ones.  His debut album “Something Beautiful” topped out at the number two spot on the Billboard 200 Album chart; his holiday album “Tis the Season” reached number eleven.  His original song “Ashes” was recorded by Celine Dion for the film “Deadpool 2”

Daneille Bradbery was in her teens when she won season four with Blake Shelton as her coach.  Since winning the show she has seen some significant success on the Country music charts including some original music.  In 2019 she was nominated for the Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.  She has appeared in episodes of “Nashville” and “Hart of Dixie”.

Season three champion Cassadee Pope has seen the most success of all “The Voice” winners with a Grammy nomination and her own episode of “Lip Sync Battle”.  She has also seen significant success on the music charts with two top 10’s including a number one on the Country Album chart for her album “Frame by Frame”.
