This weekend the Xfinity and Cup Series drivers will take to the high banks of Talladega; but first, some of the drivers will hop into their simulator rigs for a little iRacing at Talladega in the second Pro Invitational iRacing series.

Last year NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon joined the iraces but ended up going airborne and getting caught in the catch fence, but is not returning for a second attempt.

Fellow Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr is also in the field; as is the youngest driver in the Pro Invitational Series, eight year old Keelan Harvick – son of Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick. Naval Commander Jesse Iwuji has set up his rig at the Naval Academy in Annapolis and will join the race tonight.

While the drivers are getting the opportunity to qualify for only a hand full of races this season, the iraces will get a two minute chance to qualify their cars for the 70 lap race. Each driver will get two chances to “reset” their cars after an accident or other incident that damages the car. While they will have to wait the appropriate amount of time for the repair, they will return to the track with a virtually new car.
