The seventies pop boy band Bay City Rollers has lost another member with the death of Les McKeown. His family announced that McKeown died April 20, 2021. A cause of death was not revealed that the singer died at home at the age of 65.
The Bay City Rollers were formed in Edinburgh, Scotland in the late 60’s. McKeown joined the band in 1973 at age 18, taking over for original lead singer Gordon “Nobby” Clark.
Over their short career, The Rollers had a huge global teen following and sold over 100 million albums around the world.

MdKeown’s father was a tailor and made the band’s tartan costumes.
Some members of the British media referred to the Bay City Rollers as the “biggest group since the Beatles”.

Like many bands, after breaking up in 1978 The Rollers reunited in 2015 for a short tour that played to sold out houses including women who were fans as teens and brought their young daughters.
After leaving The Rollers in 1978, McKeown released nine solo albums in the following years.

Leslie Richard McKeown was born November 12, 1955 in Edinburgh to Irish parents.
He is pre-deceased by Bay City Rollers founding member Alan Longmuir who died at age 70 in 2018.
is survived by his wife Peko Keiko and son Jubei.
