It has been two years since the Camping World Truck Series has raced on the dirt, but after seven years of racing at Eldora Speedway, the Truck Series will run on the dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Forty-four drivers, including seven Cup Series drivers – Daniel Suarez, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Kyle Larson, and Martin Truex Jr – will run in four qualifying races to set the field. And for the first time in the Truck Series, a husband and wife will hope to battle it out on the race track when Stewart and Jessica Friesen join the field.

Forty drivers will make the field for the main race.

After some heavy rains overnight, the track is muddy and requires a little extra work to get ready for racing.

The drivers participated in a random draw to determine which qualifying heat they would be racing in hoping to make the Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt at Bristol Saturday night.

Qualifying races are 15 laps each with only the green flag laps counting. Drivers in each heat will earn points for passing fellow drivers and the top 10 finishers will receive points with the winner earning 10 points and the tenth place driver earning one point. These points will be used to help determine the starting lineup for the main race. Team owner points will be the deciding factor in case of a tie.

An more rain has come to Bristol Motor Speedway.

With the rains coming down and more on the way, NASCAR has called off all the events for the remainder of the night and has rescheduled the race for Sunday night after the Cup Series race.

After nearly 48 hours, NASCAR is ready to race on the dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway. Originally scheduled for some Saturday night racing, the event was postponed until Sunday night after heavy rains made the track unusable. But flooding outside of the track cancelled all racing events on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the postponement of races has casued NASCAR to cancel all of the qualifying heat races and the field has been set according to the NASCAR rule book, using truck owner points. While six of the seven Cup Series drivers planning to make the race are in the field, Jessica Friesen is one of the four drivers who did not make the field and will not get the chance to make history and race against husband Stewart.
