Grammy nominated Classical and Jazz artist Claude Bolling died December 29, 2020 in Garches, France at the age of 90.  An official cause of death was not released.

A professional musician since he was a teen, Bolling has worked with numerous artists including Lionel Hampton, Yo-Yo Ma, Brigitte Bardot, Juliette Greco, Hubert Laws, Angel Romero, Jean Pierre Rampal, Roy Eldridge, and Kenny Clarke.

His album “Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano” with Jean Pierre Rampal went gold and spent over 500 weeks on the Billboard music charts.

Bolling showed a little humour with his composition “Toot Suite for Trumpet and Jazz Piano”.

Over the course of his career, Bolling has composed music for over 100 film and television productions including “Lucky Luke”, “The Pleasure of Love”, “The Tiger Brigades”, “The Awakening”, “California Suite”, “Take Me to the Ritz”, “The Passengers”, “The Day and the Hour”, and “The Navigator”.

His music also appears on over two dozen soundtracks including “The Joker”, “The Holiday”, “The Thorn and the Rose”, “Holy Year”, “The Probability Factor”, and “Blood on the Streets”.

He is even credited with being an actor in “Chance or Coincidence”, “Ca va plaire”, “The Tiger Brigades”, “The Woman in Blue”, “The Day the Clown Cried”, and “Night Heat”

He was born Claude Jean Harry Bolling on April 10, 1930 in Cannes, France.

Predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Irene, Bolling is survived by his sons David and Alexandre.
