The 2020 Major League Baseball season was supposed to be a historic year with the first ever game played on the baseball field that is known as “The Field of Dreams”.  But the Covid-19 pandemic caused the game to be cancelled as the MLB struggled to put on some semblance of a “normal” season.

However, MLB has not given up on “The Field of Dreams”.  The game has been rescheduled for the 2021 playing season on August 12.  The Chicago White Sox will play the New York Yankees on the baseball field hidden behind a corn field in Iowa.

Not only will the game mark the first time a major league game will be played on the field; it will also be the first time an MLB game will be played in Iowa.

Like most events in the coming months, the game is contingent on the status of the pandemic and whether or not it is safe to do so.

In the 1989 film, Kevin Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella, noted, “if you build it, they will come.”  And come they did, the field has become a popular tourist destination.
