Xfinity Series driver and 2019 Sunoco Rookie of the Year Chase Briscoe has said that every race is an audition for him if he hopes to move up to the next series – NASCAR Cup. So far this year, Briscoe has won a record nine races and currently sits atop the leaderboard in the playoffs driving the Stewart-Haas Racing number 98 car.
Prior to the 2020 racing season, Briscoe had won only two Xfinity Series races. When the season started, Briscoe had set a goal of eight wins for the season. There are still three races remaining in the season.
The 2016 ARCA Menards Series champion also has two Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series victories.
Less than two weeks ago, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Clint Bowyer announced his retirement from NASCAR to enter the broadcast booth.
On October 20, Stewart-Haas Racing made the official announcement that Chase Briscoe has not only auditioned for, but has earned him a spot in NASCAR Cup by naming Briscoe as the new driver of the number 14 car being vacated by Bowyer.
Car owner Tony Stewart spoke on the decision saying, “He’s delivered time and time again this season and he’s definitely ready for the NASCAR Cup Series.”
Briscoe’s primary sponsor HighPoint – a Sparta, New Jersey IT company is making the move with Briscoe to serve as the primary sponsor on the number 14 car.
