The Xfinity Series kicks off a doubleheader weekend with some Friday night short track racing on the ¾ mile track at Richmond Raceway and the GoBowling 250.

Allowed to run in only five Xfinity races during the season, Kyle Busch will run his fifth race driving the Starburst number 54 car.  To date Busch has won 97 Xfinity Series races to top the list of all time winners.

Watermelon man Ross Chastain will sit on the pole and bring the field to the green flag with Brandon Jones starting alongside on the front row.

Stages one and two of the race are 75 laps each with stage three lasting 100 laps for a total of 250 laps around the track.

Ross Chastain brings the field down for the green flag start of the race and jumps out in front for the lead of the race while Brandon Jones and Harrison Burton battle for second.



Lap two, the top five are Ross Chastain, Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton, Chase Briscoe, and Austin Cindric.

After starting in 30th place, Kyle Busch has already moved up to 24th.

Lap five, Ross Chastain has pulled out to a lead of nearly half a second on Brandon Jones with Harrison Burton in third.  Kyle Such is up to 20th place.

NASCAR has called for a competition caution on lap 40.

Timmy Hill is off the track.

Lap 10, Ross Chastain has increased his lead to over half a second on Harrison Burton with Austin Cindric in third.  Kyle Busch has moved up to 19th place.

Lap 13, Ross Chastain continues to lead the race with Harrison Burton in second and Austin Cindric in third,  Kyle Busch is now in 18th place.

The caution flag comes out on lap 16 when Colby Howard gets into the wall.  There is some precipitation in the area.

There are raindrops on the camera lenses.

Ross Chastain brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 24 from the inside lane and gets out in front for the lead as the drivers make it a three wide battle.  Drivers are getting three wide across the track.

Leading all 25 of the laps so far, Ross Chastain has led the most laps he has ever led.

Lap 27, Ross Chastain has a half second lead on Austin Cindric with Harrison Burton in third.  Kyle Busch has moved up to 13th place. 

Lap 33, Ross Chastain has pulled out to nearly a second on Austin Cindric with Justin Haley in third.  Kyle Busch has moved up to 12th place.

Timmy hill is out of the race.

Brandon Brown is reporting some possible overheating issues.

Lap 36, Justin Haley has taken second place away from Austin Cindric.

The teams have only four sets of tires for the race.

Lap 38, Justin Haley challenges Ross Chastain for the lead; after going side by side for a lap, Justin Haley takes the lead.  Kyle Busch has entered the top 10.

At the end of lap 40, NASCAR displays the yellow flag for the competition caution.  Prior to the competition caution, drivers could come down pit road but could not fuel the car.

Some of the drivers come down pit road for service; while other stayed out on the track.

Chase  Briscoe wins the race off of pit road, but after staying out on the track Harrison Burton brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 46.  Drivers get four wide across the track sending Myatt Snider into the wall and bringing out the caution flag.

At the restart, Kyle Busch was in third place.

Lap 54, the top five are Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch, Harrison Burton, Ross Chastain, and Austin Cindric.

The drivers continue to get three wide across the track.

Lap 57, Chase Briscoe has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Austin Cindric; Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, and Harrison Burton round out the top five.

The field is mixed with drivers who made a pit stop for fresh tires during the competition caution and drivers who stayed out on the track.

Lap 60, Austin Cindric has taken the lead form Chase Briscoe; Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, and Justin Haley round out the top five.

Lap 62, Austin Cindric has a lead of nearly half a second on Chase Briscoe, Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, and Justin Haley round out the top five.

Lap 66, Austin Cindric has a half second lead on Chase Briscoe; Ross Chastain, Justin Haley, and Kyle Busch round out the top five.

Kyle Busch is reporting a tight condition in his car.

There are 33 cars on the lead lap.

With seven laps remaining in stage one, Austin Cindric has pulled out to a lead of nearly a second on Chase Briscoe; Ross Chastain, Justin Haley, and Michael Annett round out the top five.

Three laps remain in stage one Austin Cindric has a one second lead on Chase Briscoe; Ross Chastain, Justin Haley, and Michael Annett round out the top five.

Drivers come down pit road for fresh tires and service with Austin Cindric winning the race off of pit road.

Austin Cindric brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two from the inside lane and edges out Chase Briscoe for the lead while Chase Briscoe and Ross Chastain battle for second.

Justin Haley had to make a second trip down pit road during the stage break and is stuck back in the field.

Lap 88, Austin Cindric has a lead of over half a second on Ross Chastain with Justin Allgaier, Chase Briscoe, and Michael Annett rounding out the top five.

There are 26 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 93, Austin Cindric has a one second lead on Ross Chastain with Justin Allgaier in third.

NASCAR is a family sport, Brandon Brown’s dad used to come to every race, but a diagnosis of cancer stopped Jerry from coming to the track and even kept Brandon from seeing his dad due to the pandemic.  Last month, Jerry rang the bell after completing his treatment…and he is at the race!

Lap 111, Brandon Brown has a little smoke coming from his car but reports that it is getting better.

In a doubleheader weekend, the teams must drive the same car with the same engine.  In order to drive a backup car, NASCAR says that the main car must be undrivable.  If a team has to move to a backup car, they also lose their starting spot and have to start the race from the back of the field.

Lap 123, Justin Allgaier has caught leader Austin Cindric and is challenging for the lead.  On lap 124, Justin Allgaier takes the lead of the race.

Lap 127, the top five are Justin Allgaier, Austin Cindric, Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch, and Kaz Grala.

Lap 133, Justin Allgaier has a lead of nearly a second on Ross Chastain with Kyle Busch in third.

Lap 137, Justin Allgaier continues to lead the race with 20 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 140, Justin Allgaier has a lead of over a second on Ross Chastain with Kyle Busch in third.

Lap 145, Justin Allgaier has pulled out to nearly a two second lead on Ross Chastain; Kyle Busch, Justin Haley, and Austin Cindric round out the top five.

Lap 148, there are only 18 cars on the lead lap.

With a lead of over two seconds, Justin Allgaier wins stage two for his ninth stage win of the season.

With 64 laps remaining in the race, Justin Allgaier leads the race with Austin Cindric in second.

Lap 171, the top five are Justin Allgiaer, Justin Haley, Austin Cindric, Brett Moffitt, and Jeb Burton.

Lap 177, Justin Haley is the new leader with a one second lead on Justin Allgaier; Austin Cindric, Brett Moffitt, and Kyle Busch round out the top five.

Lap 188, Justin Haley has pulled out to a lead of over two and a half seconds on Justin Allgaier, Kyle Busch, Brett Moffitt, and Austin Cindric round out the top five with 17 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 191, Jeb Burton takes his car to the garage with brake issues.

Lap 196, Justin Haley has a two second lead on Justin Allgaier with Kyle Busch, Brett Moffitt, and Austin Cindric rounding out the top five.

Lap 203, Austin Cindric reports that as the race goes on, the worse the car gets.

Lap 204, Justin Haley has a lead of just under two seconds on Justin Allgaier; Kyle Busch, Brett Moffitt, and Austin Cindric round out the top five with 17 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 206, Justin Allgaier has closed the gap on leader Justin Haley to under a second with Kyle Busch in third; Austin Cindric and Bett Moffitt round out the top five.

Lap 212, Justin Haley is just a half a second in front of Justin Allgaier; Kyle Busch, Austin Cindric, and Brett Moffitt round out the top five.

There are only eight laps remaining in the race, race leader Justin Allgaier has just put the tenth place car a lap down.

Five to go, Justin Allgaier has a one second lead on Justin Haley with Kyle Busch two seconds back and nine cars on the lead lap.
