After being decommissioned from its five year mission, the Starship Enterprise has been docked at the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall of the Smithsonian Institute. But on October 7 the Enterprise will be moved from the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall for renovations on the museum.

The Starship model is the same one that was used in filming the original “Star Trek” in the sixties.

The model underwent renovations of its own recently to restore the model. Only the right side of the model was ever seen during filming the show, but both sides of the model are visible in the exhibit.

The logistics of moving the exhibit to a new location is too difficult; therefore, the Enterprise will be stored in a safe and secure space out of the view of the public.

Once the renovations are completed, the Enterprise will return to its home in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall.
