“Music is the best drug in the world…and best of it’s free and isn’t bad for you.”
On August 25 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame I Cleveland, Ohio is sponsoring a community event of recovery and resilience with Rock Hall member Ricky Byrd.
Join Byrd and the Hall of Fame in this free community event from noon to 4pm for an inspiring afternoon of music and stories about dealing with the challenges of life and healing.
A former member of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Ricky Byrd has been sober since 1987 after what he called a long party of two decades. For the past six years he has combined his music with his sobriety to conduct recovery programs. Doctors are only now realizing the impact and importance of music on a person and their recovery from issues whether it be physical or mental.
Musical performances scheduled for the afternoon include Guitars for Vets, the Angie Haze Project, David Smeltz and The Smeltztones; and a songwriters circle with Ricky Byrd, Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go’s, Billy Joel’s drummer Liberty DeVitto, and Genya Raven from Goldie and the Gingerbreads.
