The Monster Cup Energy Series caps off a triple header weekend with the Night Race at Bristol Motor

Speedway for 500 laps and the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.

Earning Toyota their first pole of the season, Denny Hamlin ran a lap of 14.848 seconds to put his number 11 car on the pole. It is Hamlin’s first pole of the season. Kyle Larson will start on the front row alongside Hamlin.

Stages one and two of the race are 125 laps each with stage three lasting 250 laps for a total of 500 laps around the half mile track.

And with the firing of the engines, Thunder Valley roars as the drivers prepare to do battle in “The Last Great Colosseum”.

Lap seven, Denny Hamlin has a half second lead on Kyle Larson with Martin Truex Jr in third.

Lap eleven, Kyle Larson had closed the gap on leader Denny Hamlin to just a third of a second.

Fourteen laps into the race, Denny Hamlin has already encountered slower traffic.

Lap 16, Kyle Larson blows past Denny Hamlin to take the lead.

Lap 18, Denny Hamlin is on Kyle Larson’s bumper challenging to retake the lead but they are mired in traffic and Larson holds on to the lead.

Lap 24, Denny Hmlin tries to pass Kyle Larson on the high line and finally gets around him to retake the lead on lap 25.

Lap 33, Denny Hamlin has pulled out to a lead of over half a second on Kyle Larson.

Lap 38, encountering slower traffic, Denny Hamlin has lost his lead and has Kyle Larson on his bumper looking to take the lead.

Lap 40, Kyle Larson retakes the lead.

Lap 43, Kyle Larson is in the lead with 29 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 46, Denny Hamlin retakes the lead.

With a half mile track, the leaders must deal with traffic and lapped cars the entire race.

Lap 51, Denny Hamlin has pulled out to a lead of nearly a second and a half on Kyle Larson with Martin Truex Jr in third.

Lap 61, Denny Hamlin holds on to a lead of nearly a second and a half on Kyle Larson with 24 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 68, Joey Logano makes an unscheduled trip down pit road with a tire issue. Logano is now three laps down.

Lap 73, Denny Hamlin continues to lead the race and is very close to putting Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch a lap down.

Lap 77, Kyle Larson has closed the gap on leader Denny Hamlin to less than half a second.

Lap 79, Kyle Busch is now one lap down.

Lap 83, the first caution flag comes out after Austin Dillon blows ad tire and makes contact with Jimmie Johnson. Leader Denny Hamlin also made a little contact with Johnson.

The drivers come down pit road for fuel and fresh tires.

Kyle Larson wins the race off of pit road after Denny Hamlin had a slow pit stop for damage repair.

Kyle Larson brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 88 and jumps out in front of Chase Elliott for the lead.

Lap 92, Kyle Larson has a half second lead on Chase Elliott with Matt DiBenedetto in third. There are 23 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 95, Austin Dillon has to bring his car down pit road for further damage repairs.

Kyle Busch is reporting that he has no grip, saying that it is like driving on marbles.

Lap 100, Kyle Larson has a lead of over a second on Chase Elliott. Larson is right behind Jimmie Johnson and battling to put Johnson down a second lap.

Lap 103, Kyle Larson gets around Jimmie Johnson to put the champion driver two laps down.

Lap 111, Kyle Larson holds on to a lead of over a second on Chase Elliott with 21 cars on the lead lap.

With seven laps remaining in stage one, Kyle Larson has a lead of nearly a second on Chase Elliott with Martin Truex Jr in third.

Lap 116, Chase Elliott has caught up to Kyle Larson and the two drivers are battling for the lead.

Lap 118, Chase Elliott gets out in front for the lead but Kyle Larson retakes the lead on lap 119.

Lap 148, Chase Elliott has pulled out to a lead of over half a second over Kevin Harvick with 20 cars on the lead lap.

The track is fully under the lights and the teams are beginning to make adjustments for the track changes. Drivers are running laps of 15 seconds.

Lap 161, Kevin Harvick has closed the gap on leader Chase Elliot to just a tenth of a second and is battling for the lead.

Lap 165, Kevin Harvick gets around Chase Elliott for the lead.

Lap 168, Martin Truex Jr gets around Chase Elliott to take second with Kevin Harvick a half second out in front.

Lap 173, since taking the lead Kevin Harvick has pulled out to a lead of a second on Martin Truex Jr with 19 cars on the lead lap.

Denny Hamlin reports that he may have a loose wheel.

Lap 181, Kevin Harvick has a half second lead on Martin Truex Jr with Chase Elliott in thirds. There are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 187, Denny Hamlin comes down pit road to replace the loose wheel and is now two laps down.

Lap 188, Aric Almirola slams into the wall and brings out the caution flag.

Drivers come down pit road for service. Martin Truex Jr wins the race off of pit road.

Martin Truex Jr brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 197 and edges out Kevin Harvick for the lead. Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick are side by side to second until Blaney finally gets out in front of Harvick.

Lap 202, Martin Truex Jr has a lead of over a second on Ryan Blaney.

Lap 207, Martin Truex Jr has a lead of over half a second on Ryan Blaney with Kyle Larson in third. There are 18 cars on the lead lap.

Aric Almirola brings the caution flag out once again after spinning out. Kyle Busch is the “lucky dog”.

Martin Truex Jr brings the field down for the green lfag restart on lap 220 and gets out in front of Ryan Blaney for the lead with Kurt Busch in third.

Lap 225, Martin Truex Jr has a one second lead as Ryan Blaney and Kurt Busch battle for second. Kurt Busch gets around Blaney for second and sets his sights on the leader.

Lap 229, Kurt Busch has closed the gap on leader Martin Truex Jr to just under a second.

Lap 232 Kyle Weatherman and Ryan Blaney make contact but the track stays green.

Lap 234, Martin Truex Jr has pulled back out to a one second lead on Kurt Busch.

Lap 240, Martin Truex Jr continues to lead the race with Kurt Busch over a second behind and Chase Elliott in third.

Clint Bowyer gets turned around and brings out the caution flag on lap 243 after making contact with Quin Houff.

The leaders come down pit road for service.

Martin Truex Jr wins the race off of pit road, but not all of the drivers made a pit stop.

Kevin Harvick’s car is being pushed into the garage with transmission issues.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three on lap 258 and jumps out in front of Chase Elliott for the lead.

Brad Keselowski gets around Chase Elliott for second and is challenging Kyle Busch for the lead, but Chase Elliott comes back to battle Keselowski for the second spot.

Lap 265, after beating out Chase Elliott for second place, Brad Keselowski passes Kyle Busch for the lead but did not drive away from the pack; Kyle Busch is close behind.

Lap 274, Brad Keselowski has a half second lead on Kyle Busch with Chase Elliott in third. Joey Logano is the last car on the lead lap in 20th place.

Lap 279, Kyle Busch has cut into the gap behind leader Brad Keselowski as he tries to catch up and retake the lead.

Lap 286, Alex Bowman gets loos on the track but saves the car and the track stays green.

Brad Keselowski continues to lead the race and maintain a half second lead over Kyle Busch but third place driver Chase Elliott is now over two seconds back.

Lap 294, Kyle Busch has closed to within two tenths of a second on leader Brad Keselowski with Chase Elliott over two seconds back.

Lap 300, Brad Keselowski is in the lead with Kyle Busch in second and 20 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 308, Brad Keselowski has pulled out to a one second lead on Kyle Busch with Chase Elliott over three seconds back in third.

Kyle Busch is reporting that he is loose and is falling back because of it.

Lap 325, Brad Keselowski holds on to his half second lead over Kyle Busch with Chase Elliott in third three seconds back.

Lap 335, Brad Keselowski continues to lead the race with Kyle Busch half a second back. Erik Jones has gotten around Chase Elliott for third.

A long race at 500 laps, the drivers are beginning to feel fatigued.

Lap 347, Brad Keselowski holds on to his lead over Kyle Busch but that lead is now under half a second and since taking over third, Erik Jones has cut into the gap to Kyle Busch and is now less than two seconds back.

Lap 351, Kyle Busch is challenging Brad Keselowski for the lead. On lap 352, Kyle Busch has retaken the lead..

After getting stuck behind traffic on lap 354, Brad Keselowski retakes the lead.

Lap 355, Kyle Busch passes Brad Keselowski to take the lead. Erik Jones is battling with Brad Keselowski for second.

Lap 359, Kyle Busch has pulled out to a lead of half a second over Erik Jones. Busch will need to make a stop for fuel soon.

The caution flag comes out on lap 363 for Alex Bowman with a flat tire and then gets hit by Joey Logano.

Just before the caution flag came out, Martin Truex Jr made contact with the wall and had to make a pit stop.

Kyle Busch wins the race off of pit road with team mate Erik Jones coming out second.

Kyle Busch brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 370 and gets out in front of Erik Jones for the lead. Kyle Larson’s car is smoking with a tire rub.

Michael McDowell and David Ragan make contact and brings out the caution flag. Jimmie Johnson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, and Ryan Blaney were also involved.

Denny Hamlin’s team reports that they may have a loose lug nut and will bring him down pit road to tighten all of the lug nuts.

Kyle Larson’s tire rub was the result of brushing against the tire in the tire carrier’s arms on Erik Jones’ team.

Erik Jones brings the field down for the green flag restart on lap 388 and edges out Kyle Busch for the lead.

Matt DiBenedetto gets around Kyle Busch to take second.

Lap 391, the top three are Erik Jones, Matt DiBenedetto, and Chase Elliott. Kyle Busch has dropped to fifth after getting really loose on the restart.

Lap 396, Matt DiBenedetto challenges Erik Jones for the lead. Erik Jones gets into the wall and Matty D. takes the lead with Chase Elliott in second and Kenny Hamlin in third. Erik Jones has to bring his car down pit road for repairs.

Lap 401, Matt DiBenedetto has a lead of over half a second on Chase Elliott.

Lap 405, Matt DiBenedetto has a one second lead on Chase Elliott with only 12 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 416, Matt DiBenedetto continues to lead the race as Chase Elliottt and Brad Keselowski battle for the second spot.

Seventy-five to go, Matt DiBenedetto has a lead of over half a second on Chase Elliott with Brad Keselowski in third.

Sixty to go, Matt DiBenedetto holds on to the lead with a lead of over half a second on Chase Elliott with Brad Keselowski in third over a second back.

Lap 454, Denny Hamlin gets around Chase Elliott for second with Matt DiBenedetto in the lead by a second and a half.

Forty to go, fighting to stay on the lead lap, Ryan Newman and leader Matt DiBenedetto make contact and causes a bit of damage to Matty D’s car. Denny Hamlin is less than a second back. There are only 10 cars on the lead lap.

Thirty-five to go, Denny Hamlin is less than a second behind leader Matt DiBenedetto. Denny Hamlin’s laps are faster than DiBenedetto’s.

Thirty to go, Matt DiBenedetto holds on to the lead with Denny Hamlin closing in just over half a second back.

Lap 487, Denny Hamlin has caught up to Matty D and is beginning to challenge for the lead.

Only eight laps to go, Denny Hamlin is in the lead with only nine cars on the lead lap.

Denny Hamlin wins the race for his fourth win of the season with Matt DiBenedetto coming in second for a career best finish. Earlier this week it was announced that Matt would not be returning to drive the number 95 car next season.
