Nashville, New York City, and Los Angeles Re filled with musicians looking for that big break. And every once in a while an artist not only gets a break, but scores big.
On July 13, Country music artist Karen Waldrup released her full length debut album “Justified” and one week later her album had not only charted on the Billboard charts, but did so in the top 50 on four separate charts.
“Justified” debuted at number 26 on the Country Music Chart, number 44 on the Independent Music Chart, number 14 on the Heatseekers Chart, and number seven on the Heatseekers South Central Chart.
The Louisiana native used the crowdfunding service Indiegogo to fund the album of eleven songs that fuse Country music with Louisiana soul.
A songwriter herself, Waldrup wrote or co-wrote nine of the eleven songs that appear on the album.
At the request of a fan, the two time Nashville Independent Music Award winner recorded her version of the Leann Womack hit “I Hope You Dance”. After garnering over 28 million views for that video, Waldrup has recorded the song for the album.
