Swedish born DJ and producer Avicii died April 20 at the age of 28. The DJ was found in Muscat, Oman – a popular holiday location on the Arabian Sea – but a cause of death was not revealed.
Avicii had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014 and has had issues with acute pancreatitis due to alcohol consumption.
The Electronic Dance Music DJ performed before thousands of fans around the world; but in 2016 he announced that he was going to retire from touring due to health issues; however, he would continue to produce music in the studio.
A two time Grammy nominated artist, Avicii has two MTV European Music Awards and a Billboard Music Award.
As a producer, Avicii worked with Madonna, Coldplay, Nile Rodgers, and Mike Posner. Avicii played at the wedding of Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.
Avicii’s music has appeared in over 50 productions including “Pitch Perfect 3”, the documentary “Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour”, “Supergirl”, “Coronation Street”, “Glee”, reality competition dance shows, and a variety of sports programs.
He was born Tim Berling on September 8, 1989 in Stockholm, Sweden the son of Swedish actress Anki Liden. He was just 16 when he began producing music and was on tour by the time he was 18.
