Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has seen himself and his show threatened numerous times by the White House and even had his show pulled off the air for a week earlier this year.
During his monologue on Tuesday night, Kimmel turned the tables and has threatened to call the FCC – Federal Communications Commission – over remarks made by the White House on the campaign trail earlier this week in Nebraska.
Kimmel response to the remark that Iran should bomb Los Angeles and San Diego was, “but that’s one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard even this maniac make.”
During the speech, the White House resident said, “they can take out a city. Let ’em take out Los Angeles, let ’em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe.
Jimmy Kimmel noted, “Okay, this is insane. This really is, even from him.” Adding that the remarks were “truly appalling!”.
Kimmel’s monologue continued:
“Oh, you’re booing. But they’re cheering. And he’s talking about Iran bombing us. And I know he says a lot of crazy things. I know this is something we’ll forget about by Thursday when he accidentally swallows a baby at a rally or whatever the hell he does next.”
“But that’s one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard even this maniac make. Openly musing about Iran, a country we are currently at war with, taking out two American cities while his adoring fans cheer him on.”
“But it’s okay because we’re liberals. We deserve to be bombed.”
“Now we have our own president wishing death to America. We had already had a huge bomb here this weekend. It’s called Digger. Okay, this is insane. This really is, even from him.”
Earlier this year Kimmel made a remark about the relationship of the first family and conservative supports literally called for Kimmel’s head, saying the remark was “deeply unfunny” but are quick to cheer a speech advocating for the bombing of two AMERICAN cities!
Kimmel noted,“so if that joke, if that rhetoric, was deranged and dangerous and violent and dark, surely you must be mortified by the president of the United States casually ruminating about the deaths of 13 million people.”
While a remark about the current White House residents was deemed “deeply unfunny”, the same conservative media are accusing, “the left can’t take a joke.”
“You know what? I’m going to report him to the FCC,” Kimmel declared as the audience cheered. “No, it’s a joke. Or, it was not a joke.”
“The hypocrisy is so glaring, you can’t even turn your head toward it. You will get blind,” he concluded.
In a truly twisted response by the White House Director of Communcations, Steven Cheung said on social media, “the media freakout over President Trump’s comments is not rooted in reality. He was clearly stating U.S. cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn’t been stopped. America is safer because of the President. Iran has no nuclear, no navy, no air force, and no money.”
Repeating an oft noted response, a White House spokesperson said, “Jimmy Kimmel is a no-talent loser who has beclowned himself with tanking ratings and by spewing disgusting lies to his dwindling audience. He is so devoid of actual talent that nobody with any commonsense would ever watch him unless it was to laugh at his miserable failures.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom also did not find the remarks funny and responded on social media saying that the remarks are “deranged and dangerous”!
Adding, “an American president is talking about Los Angeles and San Diego being ‘taken out.’ Where the hell is Congress? This is dangerous. The time to stand up is NOW.”
