Spidey continues to rule the film box office as the money continues to sling in due to the popularity of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”.
With the Labor Day weekend box office receipts, the summer film comes to a close with an expected $4.7 billion across all films.
Leading the way is Spider-Man which is expected to bring another $22 million in domestic receipts to top the $900 million mark. The film brought in $3.9 on Friday to kick off the holiday weekend.
The film has now surpassed the $900 mark and has the honour of being the film to achieve the mark the fastest – 36 days.
If that happens, it is highly possible that Spider-Man can become the highest grossing film in North America. A record currently held by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
The success of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has also brought a lot of success for Spider-Man himself Tom Holland.
Holland can now count himself as one of the top three grossing actors in Hollywood. Zoe Saldana and Scarlett Johansson surpass Holland. At 29, Holland is the youngest actor in the top 10.
To date, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has grossed $2.33 billion around the world and after just five weeks since the release on July 31.
