Charlie Brown has finally risen to the top…
It has been 75 years since Charles Schultz first introduced the world to Charlie Brown and the gang. Sixty years ago, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” made its debut.
The RIAA – Recording Industry Association of America – has just certified the official “A Charlie Brwon Christmas” album by the Vince Guaraldi Trio as six times platinum – six million copies (and streaming equivalent – 1,500 streams = one album) sold in the United States; making it the best selling Jazz album of all time.
In celebration of the milestone, Craft Recordings is releasing some limited edition albums.
On August 28 Walmart will be offering a Silver Emerald vinyl edition of the album.
On September 25, Barnes & Noble is offering a picture disc of the album cover. Target is offering an Iridescent Snow vinyl that will include an exclusive poster.
On October 2 Urban Outfitters will offer a Sapphire coloured vinyl album.
November 6 Craft Recordings caps off the special editions with a “Snow Globe” LP complete with floating snowflakes. The special edition is limited to just 300 copies!
The Walmart, Target, and Urban Outfitters releases will come in a blue fool jacket.

Craft Recordings is also re-releasing the original album that will be available on October 9.
Craft is also repressing the zoetrope LP from last year after selling out numerous times. The album will be available at craftrecordings.com
The animated television special “A Charlie Brown Christmas” has earned Emmy and Peabody Awards.
Vince Guaraldi’s relationship with Charlie Brown began in 1964 during the filming of “A Boy Named Charlie Brown” when producer Lee Mendelson needed a composer and score.
The Bay area artist continued to music for Charlie Brown specials until his death in 1976.
Guaraldi is no longer with us, but his “A Charlie Brown Christmas” soundtrack continues to inspire audiences.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” is a member of the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
