The “Itsy Bitsy Spider” may have crawled up the waterspout but “Spiderman” is rocketing up the box office charts and breaking records along the way.

The latest “Spiderman” film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was released just one week ago on July 31 and began splaying his web around the world.

And with a North American box office draw of $500 million, the film has officially become the highest grossing film in the first week of release in history.

The Destin Daniel Cretton directed film beat out “Avengers: Endgame” who reached the half-billion milestone in eight days in 2019.  Spidey brought in $360 million in his opening weekend; topping the list for Thursday previews and opening day draw.

Other records achieved by the new “Spiderman” film include the best domestic box office draws for a Monday and a Tuesday, and ranks second as the fastest film to break the $1 Billion mark globally behind “Avengers: Endgame”.  The film took only six days to gross $1 billion in the global box office draw.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was released by Sony Pictures and stars Tom Holland as Spidey.  Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo also appear in the film.

According to Marvel Studios, the film had a production budget of $225 million.
