NASCAR has issued just one penalty this week and that was for an event that happened even before the race began.

In the Craftsman Truck Series, MBM Motorsports number 69 truck driven by Jonathan Shafer was fined $5,000 for a pre-qualifying infraction.  Shafer was one of two drivers who failed to qualify for the race at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday night.

MBM Motorsports was charged with violating NASCAR rule book sections 14.2.3.6 A & B for a shifter boot issue.

The 69 truck has also been docked 25 truck owner points for the infraction.  Shafer was also docked 25 driver points even though he did not make the race and is not a full time driver.
