In 2023, Jimmie Johnson joined Maury Gallagher and Richard Petty at Petty GMS; they changed the name to Legacy Motor Club.
Since that time, the team has added a number of new owners from the world of sports, entertainment, and business leaders.
After the addition of Grammy Award winning singer Darius Rucker and world class cook Guy Fieri; several new members have become a part of the ownership team for Legacy Motor Club.
With the additional ownership group, Legacy Motor Club now has over 30 championships and titles, five Indianapolis 500 wins, multiple MVP and Hall of Famers, and Grammy Award winners.
Joining Richard Petty, Maury Gallagher, and Jimmie Johnson are Guy Fieri, Darius Rucker, MLB player Bryce Harper, Kelly Slater, Andy Roddick, Sam Byrne, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan, Jen Rubio, and Chase Utley.
Seven time NASCAR champion and co-owner Jimmie Johnson spoke on the new ownership group additions saying, “this is not a traditional ownership group. It is a collection of people who understand competition, leadership, innovation, storytelling, and how enduring organizations are built. They come from different worlds but share a common belief: that LEGACY can become something fundamentally different within motorsports and culture.”
