In a stand alone event at Indianapolis Raceway Park, the Craftsman Truck Series goes short track racing for a second week.

Indiana native and IndyCar driver Conor Daly is driving the Kaulig Racing number 25 guest truck this week.

Eighteen-year old Gavin Boschelle is making his Truck Series debut this weekend.

The drivers have a full 50 minute practice session before they will make a qualifying run to set the field.

Tire fall off will be an issue for the drivers.  Lap times are falling off over a second after just a dozen laps.

Thirty-eight teams brought trucks to IRP for 36 starting spots; two drivers will not make the race.

It has been a year since the horrific crash that sent Stewart Friesen to the hospital with multiple fractures.  He vowed to return for Daytona…and he did.  One year later, Friesen does not even walk with a limp.  However, he does have a limp this week after burning his foot last week at North Wilkesboro. 

Brenden Queen topped the leaderboard with the fastest time until several drivers began making mock qualifying runs.  Layne Riggs topped the leaderboard in multiple lap times.

The first driver on the track to make a qualifying run is Jonathan Shafer who posted a time of 240.43 seconds around the just over half mile track.

The first driver to break the 23 second mark is Nick Sanchez with a time of 22.55 seconds.

With a time of 22.805 seconds Layne Riggs put his number 34 truck on the pole for the third race in a row.  Teammate Chandler Smith will start alongside on the front row.

Jonathan Shafer and Justin Carroll failed to qualify for the race.

Stages one and two are 60 laps each with stage three lasting 80 laps for a total of 200 laps around the near 7/10s of mile track.  The drivers can run 110 to 120 laps on a single load of fuel.

With just three races remaining before the playoffs, Layne Riggs and Kaden Honeycutt are locked into the playoff round.

Layne Riggs brings the field down for the green flag start of the race with teammate Chandler Smith alongside before a packed house.  This is the first front row start for Chandler Smith this season.  Layne Riggs gets out in front from the outside lane.

Christian Eckes comes up on the inside to take second.

Lap three, the top five are Layne Riggs, Christian Eckes, Chandler Smith, Kaden Honeycutt, and Nick Sanchez.

Lap six, Kaden Honeycutt battles with Chandler Smith for third.

Lap seven, Layne Riggs has pulled out to a one second lead on Christian Eckes.

Losing three spots since the race start, Stewart Friesen reports a very loose condition in his truck.

Lap eleven, Layne Riggs has increased his lead to a second and a half on Christian Eckes; Chandler smith, Kaden Honeycutt, and Nick Sanchez round out the top five.

Lap 16, Kaden Honeycutt is still trying to pass Chandler Smith for third.  Unable to pass on the inside, Honeycutt has moved up to the outside by the wall and has finally passed Smith for third.

Lap 21, leader Layne Riggs has encountered slower traffic and is beginning to lap slower cars. 

There are 30 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 26, Layne Riggs has pulled out to a near two second lead on Christian Eckes; Kaden Honeycutt, Chandler smith, and Connor Mosack round out the top five.

Lap 29, Chandler Smith moves up to battle with Kaden Honeycutt to retake third place.

Lap 30, Layne Riggs now has a lead of nearly three seconds on Christian Eckes with 27 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 35, Layne Riggs has a near three second lead and continues to lap slower trucks with just 26 trucks on the lead lap.

Chandler Smith has gotten back around Kaden Honeycutt for third; Connor Mosack has joined the battle and has passed Honeycutt for fourth.

Lap 40, leading since the beginning of the race, Layne Riggs has led more laps than any other track.

Lap 42, the top five are Layne Riggs, Christian Eckes, Chandler Smith, Connor Mosack, and Kaden Honeycutt.

Ty Majeski has passed Kaden Honeycutt for fifth.

Lap 47, Layne Riggs has increased his lead to three seconds on Christian Eckes; Chandler Smith, Connor Mosack, and Ty Majeski round out the top five.

Several of the drivers are reporting tight conditions in their trucks.

Lap 50, there are 21 trucks on the lead lap.

With seven laps remaining in stage one, half the field – 18 trucks – are not on the lead lap!

With a lead of nearly five seconds, Layne Riggs wins stage one with 14 trucks on the lead lap.

Chandler Smith is now locked into the playoffs.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Layne Riggs winning the race off of pit road.

Christian Eckes makes another trip down pit road with the hood up with smoke coming out the back of the truck.  Reports are that fluid is coming out of the truck.

Gavin Boschele is the “lucky dog”.

Layne Riggs brings the field down for the green flag start of stage two on lap 72 with Chandler Smith alongside.  Smith takes the lead.

Lap 74, the top five are Chandler smith, Layne Riggs, Connor Mosack, Grant Enfinger, and Nick Sanchez.

Layne Riggs passes Chandler Smith for the lead and begins to pull away from the remainder of the field.

Chandler smith attempts to retake the lead but Riggs holds him off.

Lap 77, Ty Majeski and Nick Sanchez battle for fifth.

Jackson Macenko is slowed on the track and works his way to the garage.  He reports the truck is out of gear.

Christian Eckes is still on pit road getting service.  The crew has changed the battery but the crew is pushing the truck to the garage with an oil leak.

Lap 83, Layne Riggs has a one second lead on Chandler Smith; Connor Mosack, Grant Enfinger, and Ty Majeski round out the top five.

Lap 87, there are just 15 trucks on the lead lap.

Halfway through stage two – lap 89 – Layne Riggs has a second and a half lead on Chandler Smith; Connor Mosack, Grant Enfinger, and Ty Majeski round out the top five.

Lap 97, Layne Riggs has pulled out to a lead of over two seconds on Chandler Smith; Connor Mosack, Grant Enfinger, and Ty Majeski round out the top five with 14 trucks on the lead lap.

Jackson Macenko and Christian Eckes are off the track.

Lap 102, Layne Riggs has a near three second lead on Chandler Smith with 14 trucks on the lead lap.

Lap 107, Christian Eckes has returned to the track 33 laps down.  The crew had to change the alternator.

Lap 108, Layne Riggs ahs a lead of over three seconds on Chandler Smith; Connor Mosack, Grant Enfinger, and ty Majeski round out the top five.

Lap 112, Layne Riggs continues to lap slower traffic; some of them for the second time.  He has a lead of over four seconds on Chandler Smith.

With just six laps remaining in stage two, Layne Riggs is approaching Gio Ruggiero – the last truck on the lead lap in 14th.

Five laps to go, Layne Riggs passes Gio Ruggiero to put him a lap down.

Connor Mosack passes Chandler Smith for second.

There are only four trucks just one lap down, the remainder are at least two laps down.

Drivers come down pit road for service with Layne Riggs edging out Connor Mosack to win the race off of pit road.

Layne Riggs brings the field down for the green flag start of stage three with Connor Mosack alongside with 70 laps remaining in the race.  Riggs jumps out in front for the lead with Chandler Smith taking second.

Over 30 laps down, Christian Eckes is running his own race and is looking to snag the fastest lap point.

With 68 laps to go, the top five are Layne Riggs, Chandler Smith, Connor Mosack, Nick Sanchez and Ty Majeski.

Ty Majeski battles with Nick Sanchez for fourth.

NASCAR has stated that since Christian Eckes took his truck to the garage for repairs, he is not eligible for the fastest lap point.

The first caution flag come out for an on track incident with 63 laps to go when Landen Lewis’ truck is on fire.  Daniel Hemric and Lewis were involved in a crash.

NASCAR has displayed the red flag to get the track cleaned up.  Hemric and Lewis’ trucks have been removed from the track.

While under the red flag, safety workers are handing out bottles of water to the drivers.

Daniel Hemric and Landen Lewis are out of the infield care center and fine.  Lewis said that he just didn’t have anywhere to go.

The drivers are moving again with a few of the drivers coming down pit road for adjustments and fresh tires.

Layne Riggs brings the field down for the green flag restart with Chander Smith alongside on lap 145. Riggs gets out in front to continue dominating the race.

The top five are Layne riggs, Connor Mosack, Chandler Smith, Nick Sanchez, and Ty Majeski.

Lap 148, Layne Riggs has a near one second lead with Connor Mossack in second; Chandler Smith, Ty Majeski, and Nick Sanchez battle for third.

In 14th place, Gio Ruggiero is the last truck on the lead lap.

Lap 152, the top five are Layne Riggs, Connor Mosack, Chandler smith, Ty Majeski, and Nick Sanchez.

Daniel Hemric, Landen Lewis, and Jackson Macenko are out of the race.

With 46 laps remaining in the race, Layne Riggs has a lead of over a second and a half on Connor Mosack.

Just 40 laps remain in the race; Layne Riggs has dominated the race from the start and has led all but two laps in the race.  He is now over two seconds out in front.

Ten to go! In his Truck Series debut, Gavin Boschele is solidly in the top 10 in eighth place.

Five to go, Layne Riggs’ lead is down to under two and a half seconds on Connor Mosack.

With a lead of just a second and a half, Layne Riggs takes the white flag.

Leading all but two laps, Layne Riggs wins his fifth race of the season.
