After the final road course race of the season at Sonoma Raceway there is a big change at the top of the point standings.  Tyler Reddick was plagued with mechanical issues during the race and ended up finish in last place four laps down.  As a result, Denny Hamlin has finally taken over the points lead…but by only ONE POINT!

With his win at Sonoma, Shane van Gisbergen is back in the top 16 in points.

This was career road course win number eight for van Gisbergen, tying him with Tony Stewart for second place.  With his next win, van Gisbergen will tie Jeff Gordon for the lead with nine wins.

Allowed once again to race in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Ross Chastain, Connor Zilisch, and Shane van Gisbergen joined the race at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday with Shane van Gisbergen sweeping the weekend.  Driving the number 9 JR Motorsports car, bossman Dale Jr and daughter Isla hitched a ride to victory lane from the finish line with van Gisbergen.

Despite a bad day on the track, Justin Allgaier holds on to a large lead in the point standings with 241 stage points and 207 points over Jesse Love.
