It has been 25 years since Country music icon Reba McEntire starred in “Annie Get Your Gun” as Annie Oakley on Broadway.
Reba played the starting role for six months back in 2001. Angel Records has finally released the two singles Reba performed in the show – You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun” and “I Got Lost In His Arms”.
Reba took to social media saying, “I took my final bow in “Annie Get Your Gun” on Broadway 25 years ago today. During my run, I recorded two songs that were released on a promotional CD and we were finally able to get those songs released on streaming services. You can now enjoy my versions of ‘You Can’t Get A Man With A Gun’ and ‘I Got Lost In His Arms’ anywhere you listen to music.”
The revival of “Annie Get Your Gun” by Irving Berlin debuted in 1999 with Bernadette Peters in the starring role and earned a Tony Award for her performance.
When Reba took over the role in 2001, it was her Broadway debut proceeded to break box office records.
Her performance launched an acting career that included her own sitcom and performances in “Malibu Country” and a run in “South Pacific” at Carnegie Hall. She was a producer for the Broadway musical “Shucked”. She is currently starring in the sitcom “Happy’s Place”.
Reba has signed some posters and Playbills from the show and is raffling off for charity.
