The Lincoln Center has announced its lineup for the 2026-27 season and a revival of “The Sound of Music” is among the programming.

Jasmine Amy Rogers is taking on the role of Maria – the role made famous by Julie Andrews in the film.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will be at the Vivian Beaumont Theater beginning March 23 with an official opening on April 15.  The second revival of the musical is set for a limited engagement of 17 weeks.

Other performances in the 2026-27 schedule are:

Bradley Whitford and Tom Byth are set to star in first ever revival of the Aaron Sorkin production.  Performances are set for October 8 with an official opening on October 29 and is set for a limited run of 13 weeks.

On Off-Broadway, “The Whoopi Monologues” is set for a July 7 opening at the Mitzi E. Newhouse and run through August 30.

Also running on Off-Broadway is a revival of August Wilson’s “Seven Guitars” beginning November 5 with an official opening November 23.  “Seven Guitars” is the story of 1940’s Pittsburgh Blues man Floyd “Schoolboy” Barton.

The Newhouse will also be the site for the world premiere of Kimberly Belflower’s play “Born in the Dirt”.  The play begins on April 14 with an official opening on May 6 for a limited engagement 10 week run.

The Newhouse is hosting the American premiere of the one-man drama “Playing Burton” by Mark Jenkins.  A production about Welsh born actor Richard Burton; Welse born actor Matthew Rhys will star.  Performance dates have yet to be announced.

The Claire Tow Theater schedule has also been announced with:

The world premiere of “creation stories and all the important importants” by Mfoniso Udofia beginning September 15
The new play “Pretend It’s Pretend” by Emma Watkins beginning January 28.

And a return of “The Comedy Series” and “The Composer Series”.
