The million dollar In Season Challenge returns for a second year in the Cup Series.

Beginning with the road course race at Sonoma, the top 32 drivers – according to the point standings – will be paired together for a single elimination challenge.

Over a five race period, the driver that finishes with the higest position will advance to the next round until only one driver remains.  Last year Ty Gibbs survived to take home the big prize.

Unlike last season, there is no seeding this season, the pairings will be based solely on the point standings after the race this weekend at Pocono.

If a driver misses a race, he will be eliminated; however, drivers who may need to be replaced during the race are still eligible to compete in the round.

The races included in this year’s In Season Challenge are:
Sonoma Raceway
Chicagoland
Echo Park Speedway
North Wilkesboro
Indianapolis Motor Speedway

And the fans can get in on the action by predicting the rounds with a bracket of their own.  Registration is open now through June 28 at 3:25pm at nascar.com with the bracket selections open on June 15.

All brackets must be entered by June 28 at 3:25pm (edt).  Correct choices earn points with the top point getters earning prizes.

All five of the In Season Challenge races will be airing on TNT Sports.
