Mother Nature is proving to be a problem for NASCAR again this weekend. Qualifying has been cancelled across the board for all three racing series, the Craftsman Truck Series race was delayed nearly three hours, practice was delayed in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and now practice is being delayed in the Cup Series for the Cracker Barrel 400.
NASCAR is looking to get the Cup Series some practice time, but the starting lineup will be set by the NASCAR rule book.
Thirty-eight teams brought cars to Nashville for 40 starting spots. Austin Hill is driving the 33 car again this week.
Track drying efforts continue with NASCAR hoping to get some practice time in for the Cup Series before the O’Reilly Series race later tonight.
Along with the rain delays, there were two lightening delays at Nashville Superspeedway. At 5:40 when NASCAR opened the track, only 16 drivers have cleared the inspection process.
The drivers have 45 minutes for practice.
Ryan Preece reports some brake issues; saying he doesn’t have stopping power in the front of the car.
Tyler Reddick is also reporting brake issues, calling it “twitchy”.
Approaching 50 laps of practice, Denny Hamlin has run more laps than any other driver.
Several teams reported that the tires began cording at lap 36.
With a time of 29,802 seconds, Christopher Bell tops the leaderboard with the fastest lap in practice. Ross Chastain topped the leaderboard in multiple lap times.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin joins Danielle Trotter, Dale Jr, and Corey LaJoie at the Prime desk. Speaking on Carson Hocevar, Mark Martin said that he didn’t want to be on the track with him but he loved watching him race.
Kyle Larson is the only driver in the field to finish a race in the top 10 in every race at Nashville.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr’s painst scheme is inspired by Kyle Busch.
Mark Martin said that Kyle Busch always treated him like a king. He said that Busch was phenomenal behind the wheel.
Stage one is 90 laps, stage two is 95 laps, and stage three is 115 laps for a total of 300 laps around the 1.33 mile concrete track.
Bubba Wallace’s 23 car has the paint scheme of Cale Yarborough’s Hardees car.
Even before the drivers can get in their cars, there is rain at the track.
NASCAR has announced a 6:25pm cdt for the start of the race.
Some light showers have descended on the track, but there are clear skies outside the track and look good to get the race in.
NASCAR has called for the cars to be uncovered at 7:10cdt with a 7:25cdt start time.
NASCAR has called for a competition caution at lap 35. The crews cannot fuel the cars until that caution.
