On May 4 a three alarm fire put a temporary end to the performances of “The Book of Mormon” at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
The show has announced that performances will begin once again on May 21.
Currently, fans may purchase tickets at the August Wilson Theatre.
“The Book of Mormon” is celebrating 15 years on Broadway and to help mark the event, the first 50 people at the box office on May 21 will be able to purchase two tickets for $15 each.
The fire that shut down the theatre began in the early hours of the morning in the spotlight room where electrical equipment is kept. It spread to the roof. The fire resulted in fire, water, and smoke damage to the theatre.
Theatre owners ATG Entertainment has been working hard to make repairs as quickly as possible.
ATG Entertainment and “The Book of Mormon” have issued a joint statement saying, “ATG Entertainment, who are the owners and operators of the O’Neill, and”The Book of Mormo” are extremely grateful to the FDNY and the Department of Buildings for their help and cooperation throughout the repair efforts.”
