Broadway Box Office: March 24

Broadway is back!

Three new shows joined the lineup last week for a total of 31 productions and nearly all of them had an audience capacity of at least 90% and eight of those packed the house.

Among the new shows is the reworked Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Cats”; “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” played only four previews and packed the house for every performance and brought in over half a million dollars at the box office.

“Becky Shaw” and “The Fear of 13” were the other new shows opening last week.

After opening to previews last week, “Giant”, “Death of a Salesman”, and “Dog Day Afternoon” continue do well and are a part of the Million Dollar Club.

The total haul for Broadway at the box office last week was up some 12% with $36.77 million.

And there are nine more shows waiting in the wings to make their debuts in the coming weeks.

Twenty of the 31 shows made it into the Million Dollar Club this week with the top three topping the $2 million mark.

In the 90% Club 28 of the 31 shows made the list with the top eight shows packing the house with at lead 100% audience capacity!

Just missing out of the 90% Club were “Chicago”, “SIX: The Musical”, and “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York”; all whom had over 80% audience capacity.
